Man, 22, Arraigned Over Alleged Sexual Harassment

A 22-year-old man, Martin Opeyemi has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court over an alleged sexual harassment.

Opeyemi was on Tuesday dragged before the Magistrate court presided over by Mr Opeyemi Taofeek Badmus, on one count charge bothering on sexual harassment.

The prosecutor Inspector Jafani Muslim told the court that defendant committed the offense on May 6th at about 3.20 pm at Olaiya in Osogbo.

He explained that the accused conducted himself in disorderly manner to waylaid two ladies known as Hamsat Kafayat and Adeleke marriam.

He said the accused lured the two ladies into love affairs whereas his intention was to subject them into sexual harassment without the consent of their parents or guardian.

Inspector Jafani submitted that the offense was contrary to and punishable under Section 247(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11.Laws of Osun 2003.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge slammed against him.

The Defence counsel, Barrister Okobe Najite applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal terms.

He said the defendant has a reliable and credible surety who is ready to stand for him.

The Magistrate, Opeyemi Taofeek Badmus granted the accused bail in the sum of 50,000 with one surety.

He said the surety must be resident within the court jurisdiction and must be a person of a good character who is gainfully employeed and must be a tax payer.

The case was adjourned till June 8, 2018 for hearing.
