The paramount ruler of Egboroland, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye, Abikehin-Ekun Agunsoye II, Elegboro of Egboroland, Ijebu-Jesa has commended the governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on the giant strides achieved in his over 7 years of administering the state.

Oba Agunsoye noted that the Osun state has surely moved away from what it was 7 years ago.

He described physical infrastructure across the state as unprecedented and worthy of commendation.

The paramount ruler pointed that Osun state free feeding programme for school pupils, O’ Meal, has been a reference point for many states, the federal government and even neighbouring African countries. This he said is trail blazing.

The Abikehin-Ekun Agunsoye said this when Governor Aregbesola paid homage to him and other monarchs in Ijesa North traditional council at the palace of the Elegboro in Ijebu-Jesa on Monday 7 May, 2018.

Kabiyesi however called on the government at federal and state level to do more in the areas of creation of wards.

He noted that if Ijebu-Jesa with a population of over 200,000 citizens has only one ward which is not good enough for us as a people.

“With a population of over 200,000, having only one ward in Ijebu-Jesa is unarguably too little. Creating more wards for us here would ensure the dividends of democracy gets to the core grassroots.”

Oba Agunsoye said Ijebu-Jesa should have about 4 to 5 wards with such a large population. He then asked the Governor to look into it and work with the electoral umpires, INEC and the federal government to make it a reality before handing over powers in November.

Speaking further, the paramount ruler reminded the Governor of some roads around Ijebu-Jesa which are yet to be completed. He mentioned the Iloko-Ijebu Jesa road to the market square, maintenance work on Ijaregbe-Ijebu Jesa road among others.

Oba Agunsoye also pointed the attention of Governor Aregbesola to the plantain processing project along Ere-Ijesa road.

He noted that the government can do more on the project by adding further value to it which can turn it to a veritable means of revenue generation to the state.

The traditional monarch noted that if well rebranded and better packaged, plantain chips produced from there can be exported out of the state as everyone knows the nutritional value of plantain.

He added that it can also be used in the free feeding programme for school pupils in the state known as O’ Meal.

While responding, Governor Rauf Aregbesola saluted the efforts and unfailing supports of the monarchs in Ijesa North since the inception of his administration.

Aregbesola stressed that the visit to them as part of his tour of the state is in recognition of their pivotal roles as fathers whom he holds in high esteem.

The Governor who said his administration has been able to fulfill about 70 percent of his electoral promises to the people of Osun, noted that God did not create man to achieve perfection.

Aregbesola emphasised that his administration has spent well over N30 billion in direct social investment in people through numerous programmes like the O’ Yes, O’ Meal, supports for senior citizens among others. This he said have direct impact on citizens of the state apart from the unparalleled infrastructural developments in the state.

The Governor was accompanied on the visit by the state chairman of APC, Prince Biodun Famodun, party secretary, Alhaji Rasaq Shalinsile, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Chief of Staff, Gboyega Oyetola, Hon. Muyiwa Ige, Kola Ige, Member representing Oriade in the state assembly, Hon. Aloba, Obokun, Hon Oyintiloye, Chairman Oriade Local Government, Hon. Olubunmi Obeisun, Hon. Sola Adewumi, Hon.
