Ondo Police Nabs 11 Suspects For Various Offences

Ondo State Police command on Thursday paraded five suspected cult members terrorizing Akungba-Akoko community and its environs.
Among those arrested were ‘Aye confraternity’ group involving two Secondary School students of Oroke High School, Akungba, Sadiq Jimoh and Raji Wasiu.
Other suspected cult members were, Peter Yoyiho, Jimoh Taiwo and Daramola Temitope.
The state Commissioner of Police Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju who paraded the suspects before newsmen at the Police headquarters in Akure, said they were arrested on 6th June, 2018 at about 3:30pm based on the information received as they were planning to strike before his detectives attached to Akungba Division swung into action.
Adeyanju said in their respective statement at the station, they have confessed to be members of Scorpion cult group operating in Akungba, and it’s environs stressing that they will soon arraign in court.
Also, on 6th June, 2018 at about 6:30pm a team of patrol men led by Inspt Omoshowon intercepted a Toyota Bus with Reg No KTU 402 AU, a school bus of GRAMAX Nursery, Primary and College school driven by one Ifeanyi Ikpegou along Ayetoro Akinfosile expressway.
According to him, the said driver was questioned and he said he was coming to Omotosho to carry plantain. But on physical observation of the bus it was discovered that some figures were scraped off from the phone numbers on the body of the bus. The numbers on the bus were dialed and somebody picked from Lagos claiming that the bus was stolen from Lagos and that the case had been reported to the Police in Lagos.
He said that the driver was consequently arrested and he admitted to be one of the drivers of the school. He said he stole the vehicle in order to use it for public transport services in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Adeyanju said that the vehicle had been recovered from the suspect.
He further said on 30th May, 2018 at about 7am his men at Igbara-Oke in Ifedore local government area of the state were informed about a man named Oluwasanmi Mayowa 41 year old who claimed to have been tied hands and legs by some suspected thieves.
The police boss posited that the thieves according to the victim later made away with his master’s Nissan Almera car Reg. No AKR 898 XA. He said the vehicle was snatched between Igbara-Oke and Owena Owode expressway by three armed men.
However, after series of interrogation, he confessed to complicity in the missing vehicle. He named his other accomplices as Niyi Akintoye ‘m’ aged 42 years and Tunde John ‘m’ aged 40 years both of Akure. He also mentioned one Olaoke Paul in Lokoja who assisted in selling the car for One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000) only.
Adeyanju however said all the suspects would soon be charged to court for prosecution.
