APC Primary: Ondo ‘Formula’ Won’t Work In Ekiti, Says Ojudu

Ahead of Ekiti state governorship primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu has said he would moved against any plans to rig the forthcoming governorship primary elections of the party in favour of any aspirant in Ekiti State.

Ojudu, a governorship aspirant stated this while speaking on a programme on ‘Adaba 88.9fm’ in Akure, Ondo State capital and monitored by CityMirrorNews Correspondent on Wednesday.

He maintained that only free and fair primary election would guaranteed victory for the party in the July 14,2018 governorship poll in the state.

He warned those who are preparing to rig the primary election to desist from the act, adding that any form of rigging would be largely resisted.

He said: “Ondo formula remains in Ondo. We are going to have primary in Ekiti and I want to assure you ,anybody who knows my history, who knows my commitment, who knows my network, who knows what I am capable of doing, will not come and try anything in Ekiti.

“I have fought and go to jail because of Democracy. Anybody should not come and rig our primary in Ekiti.We have resolved and determined that we will do the primary and it will be clear to everybody.

“I have made a promise that if the Primary election is free,fair and credible, and If i lose,i will support whoever emerge and also if I win ,I will work with other aspirants.

“So,If the formula is to rig and manipulate our primary election,let nobody brings it to Ekiti, it won’t work because we will resist it. Let anybody who is coming from Ondo to allow us have peace in Ekiti.”

Ojudu further explained that President Muhammadu Buhari has not endorsed any aspirant in Ekiti, saying the president believes in due process.

“President Buhari is not anointing any aspirant, anybody should not go to town and be dropping the President’s name.He is a fair minded person and you know I work with him and if any aspirant is saying he has been anointed, the person is a liar,” he said.

While lamenting the poverty level in Ekiti state as a result of bad governance in the last few years ,the Journalist turned politician assured that APC would give the people an improved and real governance.

He revealed that he joined the governorship race to better lives of the people and that he would ensure there are employment opportunities.

Ojudu,who will be declaring for the governorship poll on Friday, 9th July 2018 noted that his government would invest on agriculture for youth to be engaged.

It would be recalled that the September 3rd,2016 APC governorship primary in Ondo State is being challenged at the Federal High Court ,Abuja.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN was declared winner of the election and the runners up in the primary election, Dr.Segun Abraham is in  court challenging the alleged irregularities.
