Mrs Ajimobi said this when she received a team of visitors led by the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs Omobolanle Olonisakin from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), in her office yesterday.

Mrs Ajimobi asserted that a healthy society is a wealthy one, while tracing economic growth to be directly proportional to the health status of the citizen, she explained that only healthy individuals can thought their activities add to the state gross domestic product (GDP).

She added that the need for a healthy society is the reason she founded the Access to Basic (medical) Care foundation where at least 600 people are taken care of at no cost on a daily basis in the 12 clinics situated across the state.

The wife of the Governor said she is willing to work with DEPOWA because their roles are interwoven as they support their spouses in making up for the lapses they can not cover especially in the aspect of social welfare.

As part of her social welfare activities, she had instituted the Educate a Rural Child which has provided school uniform, sandals, school bags, books and writing materials for over 35,000 students; while the Ajumose Food Bank also has catered for over 54,000 women with food stuff.

Earlier in her address, the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff and president of DEPOWA, Mrs Omobolanle Olonisakin said the Acess to Basic Care foundation is quite commendable owing to the number of individuals it has impacted over the past six years.

She also lauded the glaring development the Governor Abiola Ajimobi led administration has brought to Oyo state in terms of infrastructure and human development.

Mrs Olonisakin pledged the support of the association to the state government activities in delivering social welfare to children, women and the aged in the society.
