Stop Treating N’Assembly With Disdain, Former Ambassador Tasks Nigerians
By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
Former Nigerian Ambassador to Uganda, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru
, has urged Nigerians to stop treating the National Assembly with disdain.
Oluwateru stated this on Wednesday in Akure, Ondo State capital while declared his intention to contest Ondo Central Senatorial seat under the platform of People’s Democratic Party.
According to him, Nigerians should learn how to respect institutions more than individuals.
Clement Faboyede, state chairman, presented the form to Oluwateru at the party secretariat, Alagbaka, Akure, after payment of N1million.
His words, “I think the Senate deserves respect from all Nigerians. The way this important institution is being treated with disdain is disturbing.
“We may not like certain individuals at the Senate, but must we throw away the child with the bathwater?
“Till now, the hoodlums who invaded the upper chamber of the National Assembly and carted away the maze have not been apprehended. What disrespect can be more than that?
“But then, people of high integrity should be sent to the National Assembly. This will ordinarily attract respect for the institution”.
Oluwateru who was also former deputy governor of Ondo State said he intended going to the Senate to give the people of the senatorial district purposeful and productive representation.
