Breaking: Buhari Declares June 12 Democracy Day

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared June 12 as Nigerian Democracy Day to replace May 29. This was disclosed in his twitter handle and press statement.
Buhari also awarded late Chief MKO Abiola Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR).
Only the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria is entitled to bear the title of GCFR.
With this honour, the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 election which was annulled by the former military Junta, General Ibrahim Babangida can be regarded as a former Nigerian President.
Abiola’s running mate, Babagana Kingibe was also awarded Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON).
Also awarded is the late legal icon and human rights activist, late Chief Gani Fawehinmi as Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) posthumously.
Commemoration and investitures will hold on June 12, 2018.
