2019: Goke Olajide Declares Intention To Contest Assembly Seat In Ekiti

One of the major contenders for the Efon Alaaye House of Assembly Constituency for the 2019 general elections, Honourable Goke Olajide has signified his interest to contest the House of Assembly seat.

Goke Olajide made his notification known yesterday at Efon Alaaye in the residence of the foremost All Progressive Congress (APC) leader, Chief Alake.

Honourable Goke Olajide, a grassroot member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Efon Alaaye and the Son of a foremost leader and the National Secretary of the Pan – Yoruba Socio Cultural group popularly known as the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), Dr. Kunle Olajide equally witnessed the ceremony which was done in the presence of a very large crowd of the Aspirant’s supporters and the APC faithfuls in the town with a lot of glamour and funfare.

According to Honourable Goke Olajide Curriculum Vitae he made available to the Press at the venue of the eventful ceremony, he was said to have been born on the 4th of April in 1973.

He bagged his Bachelor of Technology in Applied Geophysics with a 2nd Class Lower Division in 1997 from the Federal University of Technology in Akure. He obtained his General Certificate of Education from the International School in Ibadan in 1988.

He became the Zonal Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (Zone D) between September 2005 to September 2006 and also emerged as the President of the Federal University of Technology Akure Student’s Union (FUTASU) between 1992 to 1993″.

Goke Olajide aside his family and educational background, has also held several positions before now. From his records, he was instrumental to the release of the first tranche of ecologically fund released for the Efon Alaaye Community during the first regime of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as Governor of Ekiti State.

“In addition, between year 1997 and 2016, Honourable Goke Olajide held several positions in Efon Local Government such as the Supervisory Councillor for Education and Community Development and Supervisory Councillor for Environment and Community Development. Till date, since 2014, he is the General Manager (Business Development) at the Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited”.

“Honourable Goke Olajide was the Project Geophysicist for the National Youth Service of the National Water Rehabilitation Project in Abia State Water Board between June 1997 to July 1998; had his Industrial Trainee in the Department of Mobil Producing Unlimited Mobil House at Lekki between August 1999 to January 2002; Executive Director of Medical Practitioners Services Limited of the Group Medical Practitioners Hospital at Mokola in Ibadan; Geologist 2 of the Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency between 1999 and January 2002 among many others”.

While notifying the All Progressive Congress (APC) leaders in Efon Alaaye, Honourable Goke Olajide revealed that he had joined politics since the time his father was still very active in politics.

He pledged his readiness to use his wealth of experience and educational prowess to legislate and improve on the infrastructural development of Efon Alaaye people if given the mandate.

“The position I am contesting for is not a family affair. Among us contesting for the position within our party, the APC, we have no problem or sentiments among us. Whoever will represent Efon Alaaye must be somebody who is very sensible, intelligent and resourceful and push for positions that will strengthens and move forward the progress of the Community.
It is not a position meant for playing. There are a lot of work to do. Somebody who will represent Efon Alaaye should not be a person who will go to sleep while he should be working so that what actually belongs to Efon Alaaye will not continue to elude it”.

He equally promised “to ensure that the tourism potentials of Efon Alaaye kingdom are tapped into. We also need both public and private institutions. We will encourage the establishments of more industries that will help create employments for the youths. Whoever is sent to the State House of Assembly from Efon must be somebody who will be ready to support the Governor – Elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi when he comes on board as the Governor”.

Responding, “the leaders of the All Progressive Congress in Efon Alaaye led by Chief Alake commended Honourable Goke Olajide for his outstanding support, commitment and loyalty towards the success of the party in Efon community in the last Governorship election held in the State. Chief Alake enjoined all the party members, stakeholder’s, ward and local government leaders to go back to their various wards and units to begin to work hard for the success of the in the coming 2019 general elections. He advised the party stakeholders to consider the need team up as one to present one common candidate for the Efon Alaaye House of Assembly Constituency elections taking place in 2019 to be able to face squarely the only opposition political party in the community”.

Some of the All Progressive Congress (APC) leaders at the venue of the event advised Honourable Goke Olajide to be more prayerful. Few of them who took turn to speak one after the other commended him for his good programmes, love and passion and good initiatives for the progress of the Efon Alaaye community. They urged him not to relax and goes to sleep and not to be too over – confidence with himself. To be able to bring the dividence of democracy to Efon Alaaye, they told him to maintain a very cordial relationship with whoever that will be elected as the Honourable Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The Efon Alaaye All Progressive Congress party stakeholders that grace the venue of the event include the following: Chief Dele Alake, Professor Adio Folayan, Chief Engineer Aanu Oni, Engineer Adebowale Ojo, Chief Dele Jeje, Barrister Luke Ogundele, Honourable Mrs. Oluwafemi, Honourable Iyaniwura, Honourable Adebanjo Filani, Chief Dele Olowoyeye, Engineer Stephen Adetunji, Alake Simon Taiwo, Prince Ade Ademiju, Mr. Oyeyemi Smart, Honourable Karounwi Oladapo and Honourable Ategbero among others. All the leaders prayed for Honourable Goke Olajide for the success and the realisation of his political ambition.
