By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
A leading gubernatorial aspirant under the banner of All Progressives Congress(APC) Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola on Wednesday said he would sustain and improve on the developmental drive of the present administration in the state through financial intelligence.
He emphasised the need for electorate in the state to objectively assess candidates for the September 22 gubernatorial election on the basis of necessary experience and dexterity for sustainable development.
Oyetola made the remarks while rounding off consultations across the state towards the primaries of the party tentatively slated for July 7.
The governorship hopeful while addressing the mammoth crowd of supporters who converged at the popular Nelson Mandela freedom park described himself as a critical factor in the policy formulation and implementation of the Aregbesola led administration, saying such level of involvement equipped him for greater assignment.
According to him, the years of critical engagement on several developmental policies and state administration have added more essential leadership value to decades of his private sector experience and exposure.
He stressed that the state needs individual with such administrative savvy and financial intelligence to sustain level of development in the state.
“I make bold to say that I was a key factor in the formulation and implementation of several developmental projects across the state.
“I have gathered more than enough in terms of management dexterity and administrative skills having worked with a visionary leader like Governor Rauf Aregbesola, coupled with more than 30 years of experience in the private sector.
“I will use my wealth of experience to further develop Osun. I have the master plan, what we have in plan was to turn Osogbo, the state capital of to London.”
“I am from Iragbiji, I brought in both Osogbo and Iragbiji my native town. I am a thorough bred person with courtesy, good mannerism and native knowledge, so, all these talks about Lagos Island and the rest are basically unfounded.
“On my capacity to governance, I am more than qualified to provide an inclusive leadership and sustain the level of development this present administration has started.
“My obligation as Chief of Staff in this administration put me in the right footing to perform beyond the expectations of many, you know working in the office of the governor demands a lot of dexterity and commitment”, Oyetola said.
“I have satisfactory knowledge of the strengths and needs of the state with pragmatic blueprint for policy implementation, “Oyetola asserted.
He reiterated his earlier position on party supremacy, adding that members of his party would be treated with dignity and honour.
“In party politics, political party is the engine room of any government, it plays significant role in policy formulation; I recognise the supremacy of the party and I promise to always hold our members in high esteem.
“We have special plan in which the welfare of party members would be improved, it is our duty to take good care of you”.
He however enjoined electorate, especially the youths to get their Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) to enable them participate effectively in the electoral process.
