New Elemu Of Otan-Ayegbaju Emerges

The ancient town of Otan-Ayegbaju will witness another epoch-making event with the installation of a new Elemu of Otan-Ayegbaju on Friday April 6, 2018.

In a release signed by Prince Simeon Akinloye Salako, the spokesperson of the Owalemu Ruling Dynasty of Otan-Ayegbaju, the installation of Prince Jerome Odeyale as the new Elemu of Otan-Ayegbaju is significant in the sense that the esteemed position has been vacant since 1972.

According to him, the Elemu of Otan-Ayegbaju is a highly revered traditional title given the fact the key role the holder plays in assisting the Owa of Otan-Ayegbaju in the smooth running and administration of the ancient town.

He stated that in the power organogram in Otan-Ayegbaju, the Elemu is one of the three principal Melus in a body of 15 members that constituted the highest advisory body to the Owa of Otan-Ayegbaju.

Salako observed that the Principal Melus are namely: Elemu, Onigbo and Lubayan which formed the three major ruling houses in the town from the earliest times.

The Melu as a body, according to Salako, comprised of 15 members with Onigbo 6 , Elemu 5, and Lubayan 4 members respectively.

He commended the sons and daughters of Owalemu Ruling Dynasty of Otan-Ayegbaju for their resilience, commitment to the cause of the family and unwavering support in ensuring that the installation of the new Elemu of Otan-Ayegbaju becomes a reality.

He enjoined all and sundry in Otan-Ayegbaju to fully co-operate with the new Elemu of Otan-Ayegbaju for peace, progress and development of the ancient kingdom.
