A young man identified as Saka Ibrahim escaped assassination over his refusal to join a killer Islamic sect known in Kano state.
The young man was attacked at his home located in Fagge area of the state at night on Friday, August 3, during which his mother, Sherifat was killed and he was reported to have escaped with several degrees of injury.
A source within the vicinity informed our correspondent that Saka’s assailants simply identified as Musa, Ghali and Abdul invaded the 4, Bala street house in the night during which a fight ensued within the compound.
“We all heard loud noises around the house but no one could muster the courage to go into the house due to insecurity in the town. But hours later when residents went into the house, the body of an elderly woman was found inside the sitting room”, the source revealed.
When contacted via phone, Saka said the three men that came to his house were his customers, who sells cars but had been luring him with money to join an Islamic sect but refused.
The victim who did not disclose his whereabouts due to the safety of his life, said the men forced their way into his house on the night of Friday, August 3.
His words, “They were my customers, but they were luring me to join a religion sect which they refused to name and I declined. On the fateful day, they forced their way into my house and requested to speak with me.
“My mother was in her room while I was attending to them in the sitting room. They told me they were members of an Islamic sect. They requested that I would help them place a bomb in a popular market on a date that will be communicated to me and in return they will give money and a car, this made me to suspect that they are members of the deadly Boko Haram group, hence, I declined their offers.
“My answer got them furious and after several pleas the situation became rancorous which forced my mother to come out with view to intervening in the imbroglio but on sighting her, one of them hit her on the head with a club.
“As I tried to reach her, the same person tried to hit me on the head with the club, but I blocked it with my arm and escaped through the backyard. I was later treated in a hospital outside Nigeria for fractured bone in my arm.
“It was later I was told that my mum was picked up from the scene dead and that strange people do come to the house to check if I had returned to the house. I don’t know if people reported the matter at the police station but I am currently running for my life”.
