2019 Elections: An Open Letter To The Leadership Of APC

Published

on

Greetings!

I am constrained to write this letter at this critical period in order to intimate the leadership of our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC on some of their actions and inactions that can make or mar the party in the coming 2019 elections; House of Representatives and House of Assembly.

Also, as a committed member of the Progressives from the scratch, I owe it a duty to make known some sacred facts which are indispensable for the success of our party in the coming elections. These issues border on youth inclusion and transparent party primaries.

OSUN DIGITAL MEDIA WEEK: OOPA Opens Portal For Free Award Voting

With the passage into law of the Not Too Young To Run Bill by our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, opportunities are now abound for youth to represent their people on the platform of political parties. In fact, some parties, knowing fully well the critical role of youth in election and governance process, are dashing out free tickets for youth to contest.

Our party is blessed with capable hands including myself who are youth and who can make our party proud in the coming elections. It is left for the leadership of our party to take cognisance of this fact and act accordingly.

I want to specifically call on the leadership of our great party, APC in Osun State and more specifically in Ejigbo Local Government Area to allow for youth to flag the party’s ticket for House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections. This will be in the best interest of our party and in line with the popular demand of the electorates.

In the course of my interactions with the people of my Constituency and beyond, I realised that the people have resolved to use their PVC to retire old cargoes and to empower the young chaps by voting youth candidates on the platform of our great party, APC. The leadership of our party should take note of this and present youth candidates in the best interest of our party.

When asked about his view on youth and development, the Late Former Secretary General of the United Nations and Peace Ambassador, Kofi Annan made the following remarks: ” Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however, they are left on society’s margins, all of us will be impoverished. Let us ensure that all young people have every opportunity to participate fully in the lives of their societies.

In the light of the above, it is crystal that youth cannot behind in achieving good governance. They constitute over 60% of eligible voters, likewise the workforce. Their youthful energy and determination are powerful fools for sustainable development.

It will be suicidal and in fact, a great disservice to our party if youth in the party are not given the opportunity to represent the party and compete favourably with their colleagues.

As we approach the governorship election, I pray for resounding success for our party and her candidate, Alh. Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, Ileri Oluwa.

Thank you.

Yours in the Progressive fold,

Al-Maruf OOYE Adedokun (Bibiire)
Aspirant for the Osun State House of Assembly Election 2019,
Ejigbo State Constituency.
