Encomiums As Osun Police Command Launched Crime Prevention Jingles

The Osun state Police Command on Friday held a Public Presentation of Crime prevention Jingles with a view to sensitising members of the public against criminal acts.

The jingle produced in Yoruba by a traditional poet, Chief Alabi Ogundepo depicts the commission of various crimes among youths in the society.

This development has commanded several commendations from the state government and other institutions in the state.

Speaking at the public presentation held at Adolak hall in Osogbo, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Fimihan Adeoye said the jingles would discourage potential offenders from committing crimes.

According to the CP, residents of the state should shun crimes while seeking for partnership and collaboration from the state government, institutions and organisations in the state.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone Eleven Mr Agboola Glover-Oshodi said that the Police was ready to rid the society of proliferation of Arms which he noted was the major cause of the crisis between Fulani herdsmen and the farmers in the country.

The AIG called on parents to discourage their wards from taken illicit drugs.

The state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who was represented by the Chief of Staff. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola said that the government would partner the Police to combat crime in the state.

He promised that the state government would take the responsibility of broadcasting the jingle on Radio and Television.

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor Of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede commended the state police command for initiating the jingle which he said would facilitate crime prevention in the state.

Professor Ogunbodede who described the jingle produced in local language as combination of the best brain within the community stated that the university was ready to partner with all security agencies to train the youth.

The Director of National Orientation Agency in Osun state, Dr Lawrence Martin’s appealed to the state government to take over the airing of the jingle on Radio and Television stations without taken money from the police command.

Meanwhile, a traditional ruler, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun Of Oke-Ila appealed to the youth to have implicit confidence in the Nigeria project.

Speaking at the Public Presentation, the monarch said “though, the country is presently facing a lot of crisis, the youth should have implicit confidence in Nigeria project. ”

Oba Abolarin commended the state police command for putting crime in check in the state.
