Osun Deputy Gov Commends NDLEA Over Fight Against Cannabis Cultivation

The Deputy Governor Osun, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye- Tomori has commended Osun Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over its untiring fight against the cultivation, consumption and marketing of cannabis in the state.
Mrs Laoye-Tomori gave the commendation while receiving in her office the management team of the Osun Command of NDLEA.
She said youths in the state must be properly sensitized on the dangers inherent in drug abuse, adding that crimes and criminality including other vices among youths have their roots in drug abuse.
The Deputy Governor ,who lamented that most of the farmers of marijuana ,as discovered in the reserved forests of the state, are not from the state of Osun, said the trend must be reserved completely..
She therefore charged the newly constituted Committee on Drug Abuse to work hard and deal decisively with all issues surrounding drug abuse generally.
Speaking earlier, the Osun State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr . Samuel Egbeola had intimated the Deputy Governor that the growers of cannabis are not indigenes saying that the farmers are however engaging the youths in the state to market the illicit crop and in the process destroy their lives.
Mr Egbeola said that Osun is mild in drug abuse cases but the increase of recent might be due to influx of people from other states.
He spoke further that NDLEA has plans to go after the farmers and marketers including the raid of various identified joints across the state .
The Commander then thanked Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the donation of two patrol vehicles to Osun Command of NDLEA .
