LAUTECH Alumni President Donates Utility Bus To Students’ Union
The President of the Alunmi body of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH Ogbomoso, Mr Solomon Onilede on Wednesday donated a utility bus to the institution’s students union.
The event which took place at the Senate building had in attendance the principal officers of the university.
The bus presented to the Vice chancellor at the Senate Building according to Onilede is to alleviate the challenge of immobility faced by the leadership of students union.
Appreciating the ALUMNI for the gesture, Prof Adeniyi Gbadegesin said the gesture is a record breaker for other student associations in the school to emulate.
“This is indeed a record, not only for LAUTECH but others to emulate. Everyone present here today are alumni of this university. But for someone to make a promise and fulfill it within a month is laudable. As such, he deserves a commendation and applause.”
The LAUTECH VC said “Whether you are a Muslim or Christian, a promise is a promise and whoever fulfills it will be by the right side of the lord. This is very rare.”
He expressed appreciation to the Alumni President and his team for the gesture which will in no distant time provide a solution to the security situation on campus.
“The Alumni have been supporting the university long time. Alumni in diaspora have donated books to the library. And just of recent, the alumni also donated bed sheet and generator to the health Centre. This is indeed worthy of appreciation and commendation.”
Prof Gbadegesin challenged the students’ union to conduct their activities peacefully so as to derive benefits from the enormous packages from the Old Students body.
“No doubt, LAUTECH is the best state university. This is not done by local ranking but a merited one. In the whole country, we are now 14 out of about 150 universities. This is indeed a remarkable fit.”
Speaking at the handover ceremony which also had in attendance the former Presidents of the Alumni association, Chief Babajide Bewaji, Prof Olabiyisi and other alumni members, the Dean of Student Affairs of LAUTECH, underscored the importance of playing key roles to the development of the ivory tower.
