Court Remands Teenager, 3 Others For Burglary In Osun

A Chief Magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun state, on Friday, ordered four suspects to be remanded in Ilesa prison custody for allegedly stealing items in Osun.
The suspects include a teenager, Oguniran Opeyemi, 19, Fatai Mumini, 40, Rafiu Akeem 20 and Omisakin Sunday, 20.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Rasaq Olayiwola, said the accused persons committed the offence on 28th February, 2018, around 3:45am at Isale Osun area, Osogbo.
The prosecutor said the accused persons conspired and stole items that included four DVD player, one stabilizer, one DSTV decoder, one television, two play station, two laptops, one plasma television, one guitar, one old television, two keyboard, two standing fan, one CPU, two speakers, one sheep, one unregistered jincheng motorcycle and one butterfly sewing machine.
Olayiwola said the accused persons stole a guitar valued N15,000 and belonging to one Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo in Osogbo.
He said other items allegedly stolen by the accused persons belonged to residents of the state.
According to the Prosecutor, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Sections 516,430,390(9)and 415 of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
Mumini and Oguniran pleaded guilty to the first count of conspiracy while the two others entered into not guilty plea. For the other count-charge bothering on stealing, all the accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to all the accused persons, Okobe Najite sought for their bail and asked that the conditions be liberal.
The Chief Magistrate, Olusegun Ayilara remanded the accused persons to Ilesa prison custody and ordered that the accused persons should furnish the court with formal applications for bail.
The case was adjourned till April 4, 2018 for hearing.
