Akere Denies Defection Rumours, Says Diekola Took Personal Decision
The Osun State former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Sunday Akere has again proven he is a solid rock in APC that does not move and can not be moved, as he dispel rumours of his joining the PDP with Alh Fatai Diekola.
Akere in a press statement he personally signed and made available to CityMirrorNews this morning, said he needed to make his views and stand known to his supporters and the public so as to allay the fears of his teeming admirers and well wishers.
Responding to the trending news of his possible decamping, Akere said he does not see that happening at all and he reaffirmed his love and loyalty to the progressive family.
On the reason why he is staying back, he said: “I’m a party man and a progressive to the core, my decision to stick to my political party is a personal decision and not up for debate” adding that it is better to fight for a course within than doing it without.
On the possibility of conflict of interest and vaccum arising between the former commissioner and his long time Political friend and associate Alhaji Fatai Diekola(FD), now that FD has moved to the PDP, he said he has always had a great relationship with Diekola even before their path crossed in politics, saying what they share is beyond politics, therefore political differences will never be able to stand as a factor in seperating him and Diekola.
Akere said Diekola’s decision still came to him as a rude shock, but believe the former APC leader knows what is best for him, and has probably taken a step best for him, wishing him all the best in his endeavour.
The Oluomo of Igbajo added that all of his supporters, friends and well wishers across the state are still in the APC and are not in talk with anyone over possible movement to another party.
He added that the issue between Fatai Diekola and Governor Aregbesola is an issue of little misunderstanding between two jolly friends which they will resolve without anybody’s interference at the appropriate time.
On the preparation of his party APC for the 2018 Gubernatorial election in Osun State, Akere reaffirmed his determination to fly the banner of his party in the election and win while conforming to all the set rules and regulations of the party.
