Foundation Organises Lecture To Educate Civil Servants, Politicians On Good Governance, Productivity
A non governmental organisation, Moses Inaolaji Aboaba Trust Foundation will tomorrow, Friday February 2, 2018 hold its annual lecture on public service.
The institutionalisation of the annual lecture according to Chairman of the foundation, Moses Inaolaji Abowaba is geared towards bringing back the culture of service, transparency, probity, accountability and productivity which were hallmarks of government activities in the past in Nigeria.
Aboaba while addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday explained that the foundation was determined to enlighten those at the helms of the affairs on how to run a good government.
He further explained that the lecture was one of the basis upon which the foundation was established, also part of his contribution to the development of civil service.
He added that the lecture would help to facilitate efficient delivery of service and thereby facilitate good governance.
“I want to live a legacy and I have it in mind to make whatever contribution I can make to lift it up. I am telling you, whether I am living or God has called me to glory, the foundation will still be sustained.” he said.
While decrying the rot in the civil /public service occasioned by needless reforms overtime and the politisation of the service, Aboaba stated that the theme of the Maiden edition of the annual lecture holding at Atlantis Event Centre, Osogbo is “EXCELLENCE IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE AND THE PUBLIC GOOD”.
He also said the guest speaker at the lecture is an erudite international Scholar, Professor Bayo Okunade of the department of political science, University of Imada.
He said the former Chief of Defense Staff, Lt. General Alani Akinrinade would be the Chairman of the occasion and that the guest of honour is also the incumbent Head of Service of the Osun, Dr. Gboyega Oyebade while the Special Guest of Honour is the Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Senior civil and public servants in ministries, departments and agencies of government have been directed to attend the lecture as a matter of duty in a circular issued from the office of the state Head of service.
Also expected at the lectures are retired permanent sectaries and other senior civil servants as well as invited stakeholders.
