ANRP, in a congratulatory message issued and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Ayoade Adelu, in Osogbo on Thursday condemned the present admission under the watch of Governor Rauf Aregbesola for lack of commitment to worker’s welfare.

The party lammented that despite the indomitable spirit of the workers and the invaluable roles they play in the development of the state, the current administration has rendered then almost useless, saying any government that does not dignify its workforce deserves no accolades

“We felicitate with the entire Workers in the state on the occasion of this year Workers’ Day.

“Workers day is a testimonial to the indomitable spirit of the workers who play the most invaluable roles in the development of the society; a day which was set aside to pay tribute to the layers of golden eggs for the wealth of the state. No doubt, a state without an admirable workforce is consciously inexistent and a misfit.

“Worthy of note is that Osun State is grossly populated by a large workforce who are supposed to be the engine room of development, working day after day to ensure an all-round advancement in the state civil service but have been rendered almost useless and insignificant by the current administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

“Any administration which does not dignify its workforce deserves no accolades.

“ANRP-Osun hereby identify and deeply sympathise with the workers in Osun state who have been subjected to inhumane treatments through several despotic and anachronistic means of silencing them from demanding for their legitimate rights by the Aregbesola-led administration.

“It is against any moral and religious background that a worker’s wages be withheld for the inexcusable.

“Osun workers have apparently lost count on arrears being owed them as salaries, promotions entitlements, leave bonuses, pensions and so on.

“This is clearly an irresponsibility on the part of the government of the day in Osun despite receiving huge sums both internally and externally; including the regular Federal allocation, refunds of the Paris Club loan, bail outs from the Federal Government and several other grants and donations from Local and International bodies”.

“As a result of this insensitivity of the Aregbesola government to workers’ plight, several of them have died, while the surviving ones have become tenants even in their own houses, many have turned to corporate beggars and rendered homeless, frustrated, extremely hopeless and another category as walking corpses.

“Instead of genuinely attending to the basic needs of the Workers, the APC government in its usual _chameleonic_ style hurriedly promoted some workers who are long overdue in the bid to curry electoral favours in the September 22nd election.

“The recent conscientiousless victimisation of some of its workers in the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation who refused the pressure to be compromised by demoting them shows the autocratic tendencies of Aregbesola Government.

“The Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party thereby restates its commitment to ensure Workers’ rights are duly protected and a total rejuvenation of the dignity of labour and not in the form of a master-servant relationship as it is the order of the day in Osun.”
