Adeleke: Osun Labour Unions Cancel Workers Day Celebration
Labour unions in Osun State have cancelled tomorrow’s Workers Day celebration in honour of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke who died last Sunday.
Both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress agreed to commiserate with the Adeleke’s family by cancelling their usual annual programmes for the Workers Day celebration.
Chairman of the NLC in Osun State, Mr Jacob Adekomi said on Sunday in an interview with CityMirrorNews that the two unions held a congress and came to that conclusion, saying that it is a way of paying last respect to the first civilian governor of the state.
Adeleke’s Fridau prayer is tomorrow Monday while May 1st, the workers day is also same day.
According to Adekomi, the labour unions would mobilize their members to the Fridau prayer and return to Osogbo to have a workshop just to mark the workers day.
