PDP, APC Bicker Over Alleged Plots To Rig A-Ibom LG Polls
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, were yesterday, trading allegations and counter-allegations over alleged plots to rig the December 2 local council polls in Akwa Ibom State.

While the APC accused PDP of planning to rig the election, the ruling party accused APC of plotting to bring mercenaries to disrupt the election.
PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ini Ememobong, said the party has no plans to influence the outcome of the election and described as baseless, allegations by the Chairman, APC Local Government Election Campaign Committee, Sen. Aloysus Etok, that the PDP was planning to rig the poll in the state.
Ememobong, who spoke with Vanguard said: “These allegations by APC are irresponsible, illogical and baseless as the facts available to the public, point to a different direction. The allegation can only emanate from lazy minds overtaken by frustration.”
On its part, the APC pooh poohed allegations by the PDP-led state government that it was planning to bring mercenaries to disrupt the local government election in the state on Saturday.
The State Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr. Edet Bassey described the allegation as “spurious and thinly-veiled allusion” concocted by the state government to avoid blame by the people of the state.
