Ogundokun is a Cheap, Self-Serving and Indicent Liar – Oyinlola
By Olabode Abolaji
A former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has berated an elder statesman, Chief Abiola Ogundokun for his comments over his political sojourn saying the latter is a “liar and unrepentant elder”.
Oyinlola stated this on Monday while featuring on a live radio programme in Osogbo.
According to him, the Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Party of Nigeria is a selfish politician who “wines and dines with you in the morning and becomes your enemy in the night because of his selfish reasons.”
He said “Ogundokun did join us in the campaign for the 2003 election, he only came when we won. As an elder, he only comes to you as an helper in the public light but betrays you in the latter realm.”
“When I came to contest the governorship elections in Osun, I rode on the popularity of my father Oba Moses Oyinlola who was a king before he joined his ancestors to rally support which worked for me.”
Oyinlola maintained that “Since Abiola Ogundokun won a councillorship seat, what other elective post has he or some of his children been elected to. I have served as a Military General, Military Governor, Civilian Governor and the National Secretary of the ruling party then, so if I am cursed as he is saying, would I have excelled so far in life and politics.”
On the current imbroglio between the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurasheed Akanbi and Chief Ogundokun, the former Osun chief executive noted that “There is nobody who can use Ogundokun’s name to get anywhere in Nigeria. When I was seeing Kabiyesi, Oluwo with him in the first instance, I was afraid, I knew their relationship would not last and we all can see what is happening. He is a betrayal who likes publicizing other people’s ills.”
