Army Corporal Nabbed For Alleged Fuel Diversion After Robbey

A Corporal with an Army formation in zI Ibadan, Akpan Edet has been arrested by the Oyo state Police Command for allegedly robbing a truck containing 40 litres of petrol meant for the public.
Edet ,28 who gave his address to the police as 8 Battalion Nigerian Army Mokola Ibadan led three other men in the robbery exploit
His colleagues who were paraded by the state Police Commissioner on Friday are

They were alleged to have intercepted a truck at Iwo road last Thursday and diverted its route to Omi adio where they dragged out the driver and his boy.
The Corporal who dressed in full military camouflage was said to have ordered the driver out of the truck when they got to Omi Adio.The truck made a U Turn and headed for Osun state ,the Police Commissioner for the state, Abiodun Odude disclosed on Friday.
On getting to Ilesa Akure road, they were nabbed while off loading the fuel.
The Corporal denied being an armed robber saying that he was hired for the operation adding that it was his second outing.
Odude said that all the suspects would appear in court after thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, a robbery attempt has been aborted at Maku Community in the outskirts of the state capital where a suspect identified as Kazeem Morenikeji has been apprehended.
Morenikeji has been handed over to Gbagi Police Divisional Police Officer for discreet interrogation and subsequent prosecution.
Police denied an allegation that a Community leader wanted to influence the case in order to pervert the course of justice
Superintendent Ade Ajisebutu,the States police Spokesman could not be reached for further comment on the matter.
