Osun At 26: Parliament Hails Present, Past Leaders For Development
The Osun State House of Assembly, under the leadership of its Speaker, Rt Honourable Najeem Salaam, has scored the past and present leaders of the state high for trying their best to attract development to the state since its creation 26 years ago.
The Assembly stated this, just as it congratulated the people and the government of the state on the occasion of the 26th Anniversary of the creation of Osun.
A statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said since its creation, the state has recorded reasonable development, particularly under the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The parliament noted that inspite the poor economic situation in the country, Osun has not been doing badly interms of human capital and infrastructural development, saying, this is a practical sign of meeting up with the dream of founding fathers.
It added that the developmental tendencies that the present and past leaders have demonstrated, inspite all hurdles were worthy of emulation, saying, “though, Osun has not fully attained the level that the founding fathers would have wanted, but we are definitely moving.
According to the statement, the roles that have been played by the legislature in the development so far witnessed in the state could not be over-emphasized, saying the parliament, particularly the ones led by Najeem Salaam has given it all to achieve success.
The Assembly then urged stakeholders, including private sector, artisan, community leaders, security agencies, youths and associations among others to continue to pursue common good and development of the state.
“Inspite the development that have been so far brought to Osun under different administrations, there is a long way to go to realize the dream upon which the founding fathers fought to ensure the creation of our dear state.
“We must therefore ensure that we pursue common good and development that would continue to make our state a reference point interms of road infrastructural development, education infrastructure, human development, poverty eradication, youth engagement and above all security of lives and properties that have been achieved, particularly by Aregbesola administration.
“It is important that citizens support the government through payment of taxes and other dues and protect public properties, ensure cleaner environment, be security conscious, remain peaceful and always show senses of Omoluabi ethos.
“We, in the Osun parliament assure that we will continue to give our best in the area of legislation and oversight functions that will continue to put our state on a higher pedestal”, Osun Assembly stressed.
The parliament then congratulated the people, government, traditional rulers, market men and women, private investors, artisans, youths among others for the celebration
