APC Committee On True Federalism Holds North Central Consultation Meeting in Plateau State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on True Federalism held the North Central Zonal Public Consultation in Jos, Plateau State today.

The North Central Zone comprises of Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa states.

The Chairman of the occasion, Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state declared the program opened.

In his opening remarks, Governor Al-Makura listed the areas where the committee is looking at. He said that restructuring means different thing to different people and states hence, the need for discussion on the subject matter.

He laid down rules for presentation of key issues and memoranda. He enjoined various interest groups to adhere to the rules.

There were remarks from representatives of Governors of Plateau and Benue states who were absent at the program.

First presentation was made by Mr. Omale Omale, Legal Adviser, APC Benue state who represented the state Chairman of the party. Mr. Philips, APC Chairman, Nasarawa state also made presentation on behalf of the state while Prof. John Wande presented for Plateau state. The Gbong Gwom of Jos, HRM Jacob Buba gave remarks on behalf of all traditional rulers in the three states.

There were consensus among various presenters on the need to restructure and uphold the unity of the country.

Various interest groups submitted their memoranda to the committee. Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were the APC National Vice Chairman, North Central Alhaji Zakari, Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state, Mr. Anthony Ojomo, SAN, Secretary to the State Government, Benue state and his Nasarawa state counterpart, Barr. Muhammed, Hon. Festus Gotar, Commissioner for Survey and Town Planning, Plateau state and APC state Chairmen of the three states.

Other participants are State House of Assembly Speakers and members, royal fathers and chiefs, local government chairmen, Civil Society Organisations, various interest groups and forums, NULGE Chairman and APC members among others.
