World Tourism Day: Osun Remains Committed To Tourism Development-Oluga
The Special Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state on Culture and Tourism, Mrs Taiwo Oluga has renewed the state’s commitment to develop a sustainable economic alternative through culture and tourism sector.
Oluga stated this at a function organized to commemorate 2017 World Tourism Day in Gbongan, Ayedaade, Local Government Area of the state.
She reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola will not relent in its resolve to turn around the socio-economic fortunes of the state by making culture and tourism sector mainstay of her revenue generation.
Oluga added that the state government remained committed to the development of Culture and Tourism with the hope of getting alternative income to boost the economy of the state.
According to her, “Tourism is a great tool to combat poverty and government is aware that tourism thrives when there is conducive and secured environment.
“The administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola has in no doubt taken the bull by the horn having realized the economic potentials embedded in culture and tourism.
“We will continue to pursue our clear objectives at ensuring that tourism becomes the mainstay of our revenue generation and panacea”, Oluga added.
While imploring the three tiers of government to invest in tourism, Oluga said the global economic challenges were signal for governments to diversify their economies.
She said tourism had proven to be a sustainable sector through which improved revenue could be generated by any government that taps in its abundant potentials.
Oluga added, “Osun has demonstrated high sense of commitment to ensure that robust revenue is made through tourism sector.
“It is in view of this commitment that our administration is working assidously to develop infrastructure, hence the government investment in good road network, security of lives and properties, rehabilitation and upgrading of existing sites, beautification of cities, creating new socio cultural entertainment parks among others”, she stresed.
