Security, Business Of All-Ooni Of Ife
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi has urged every citizen to work in unison, in the quest to combat insecurity in the country, saying security is the business of all and sundry.
Ogunwusi stated this while receiving the members of Community Security Awareness Initiative Corp (COMSAIC) in his palace on Sunday.
He averred that security is too important to be left in the hands of few individuals, noting that criminal activities should be curtailed collectively.
He eulogised COMSAIC for frantic efforts in combating crime at the grassroots, as he pledged his support in fighting crime in his capacity as a royal father.
He urged the group not to relent in their oars in ensuring that the society is free of every criminal activity.
The traditional ruler who was honoured as the life patron of the group used the medium to appeal to the government as a matter of urgency to expedite action on community policing as this will help the country in fighting insecurity.
Earlier in his speech, the Commandant General of the corp, Mr. Olabamiji Ayeni said the corp decided to choose Ooni Adeyeye as their life patron because of his immense contributions to the community safety through youth empowerment programme.
Olabamiji said COMSAIC was originally established to assist the police and other security personnel in combating crime.
He however urged Nigerians to join hands with security outfits at the grassroots to stamp out criminality at the community level.
