A prominent indigene and High Chief of Iwoland, Chief Abiola Ogundokun has described the reigning Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1 as a saucy and disrespectful monarch who steps beyond his boundaries.

According to Chief Ogunkodun, Oba Akanbi is defiant of the rules and regulations guarding the coveted stool of a monarch in Yorubaland with his utterances and actions.

Chief Ogundokun lamented that despite his unrivalled loyalty and support for the sacred institution, the Oluwo continues derogating him and other elders.

He said: “All the monarchs that went to him to appease him to come and beg me, he always turn reluctant at every time. I have not given him anything for the past 2 to 3 months and I have my proof of all the monies I have been giving him.

“There was a time the Governor called him (Oba Akanbi) and me to a meeting, he nearly beat me as he threatened to punch me.

“His wife gave birth to a baby in Canada, he did not have anything on him, I was the first person to send $2, 000 to him.

“What else does he want, we offered to give him advice, which he refused and started abusing us which we said is not good for the system.”

“I do not know where he got the story to let his wife wear beaded crown….He says he is senior to Ooni, Alaafin with recourse to stamping the Olubadan stool. As a high chief in Yorubaland, I do not know which school he got all that from and we are the ones he met, I have never heard of nor seen that.”

“Since I have been involved in chieftaincy matters in Iwoland, no monarch has ever stated or claimed to be superior to these respected and revered stools.”
