An 18-year-old Hausa man, Nuhu Abdullahi, was on Thursday remanded in prison custody by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged assault.
Abdullahi was accused of assaulting one Bashiru Muhammad, a fellow northerner and inflicting injuries on him.
The suspect was slammed with two count charge of assault and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on April 24, at Sabo Area in Osogbo.
Ajayi said the accused conspired with one other suspect at large to assault to commit the crime.
He said the offence contravened Sections 516(A) and 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The police prosecutor stated that the suspect had attempted to escape from detention at the Dugbe Police Division, Osogbo.
Ajayi said he was not ready to go on with the case, saying that the police were preparing another charge against the suspect.
The plea of the accused person who has no lawyer to stand for him was not taken by the court base on the submission of the prosecutor.
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Fatimoh Sodamade, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody, just as she adjourned the case till July 27, 2017 for mention.
