Akeredolu Begs Striking Health Workers to Resume Work, Set Up Committee Over Unpaid Salary

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has begged the striking health workers in the state to resume work for the interest of the dying patients in the government hospital.
His words: “Am appealing to the doctors and health workers in the state who are currently on strike to please resume work.
“Let them come back and we can now sit and have a discussion on the table through negotiations”.
The governor however set up a committee to look into the accumulated and unpaid salaries of civil servants in the state.
Akeredolu who spoke on Monday said the committee would be headed by the state Accountant General, Mr. Akindolire Herbart Olaolu, and few other senior government officers in the state.
Speaking shortly after assuming office at the Alagbaka government office in Akure, Mr. Akeredolu said the workers in the state deserved their monthly wages.
The governor who addressed the state workers at the government office ground noted that their welfare would be the priority of his administration.
“Am aware of the agonies you (civil servants) are going through without being paid your salaries” he observed.
Akeredolu added that his government would ensure civil servants get their salaries and arrears paid as at when due.
