Northern Youth Group (NYG) yesterday declared Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as their presidential candidate in 2019.

Fayose For President

Briefing newsmen at the secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna state council, the group said they saw Fayose’s vision had what was needed for “Nigeria at this crucial time,” adding that his acidic criticisms of government were issue-based.

Co-chairman of the group, Musa Tukur Gombe, told reporter that his group was not interested in zonal or regional inclination for president, but believed in Project Nigeria as seen in Fayose.

He said: “Our mission here is simple. We have come to declare our support for Chief Ayodele Fayose as our presidential candidate come 2019. We know that the incumbent President is from the North, but that should not stop any other Nigerian who has the love of the country at heart not to make his ambition known and seek support from his fellow men.

“In Fayose, we see vision, focus and principles that can help this country a great deal. So, we saw need to do more to help Fayose project what is embed in him to realise his dream in 2019. We need to talk about Nigeria and not the region we are coming from. President Muhammadu Buhari is today our president and not the president of Katsina or North or Fulani and that is the eye with which we look at Fayose.

“Though we have not met before, but we have heard him talking, criticising this government based on issues and not personality or propaganda. That is why it is difficult for anyone to accuse him. He has the right to pour his mind in any burning national issues from his own perspective with facts and figures.

“Now, if we put all these and what have you together, it is clear that the man, Fayose know what he’s doing and he should be supported to help us wake up from dreaming to actualising the dream as a people and as a country. That is why we are declaring our support for him.”BluePrint
