Police Drag Man to Court over Alleged Stealing of Cocoa Beans in Osun
The Police in Osun have on Wednesday dragged one Kola Bakare,48, before an Osun Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ile-Ife for allegedly stealing fresh cocoa beans.
The Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi alleged that the accused committed the offence on Jan 22, 2017 around 2:25 pm at Ifesowapo village via Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the accused stole some quantities of fresh cocoa beans valued N120, 000, property of one Yemi Elugbaju.
He added that the offence was contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against them.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Leke Dada, applied for the bail of his client in most libra term, pledging that the accused would not jump bail if granted, and ready to produce reliable sureties.
Magistrate Risikat Olayemi granted the bail of the accused in the sum of N150,000 with one surety in like sum.
Olayemi added that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, civil servant with Grade/Level 05 and the address to be verified by the court official.
She further stated that the surety should present the identity card, with last promotion letter as well as both accused and surety to produce two recent passport photographs
The case was adjourned till Feb 13, 2017 for hearing.
