The Senator Representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Olusola Adeyeye has advocated the scrapping of the Osun State Colleges of Education in Ila Orangun and Ilesa as well as Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke to help the Osun state government play its part in the smooth running of the joint-owned Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

Adeyeye is of the opinion that if the three higher institutions should be scrapped with the merger of the college of technology, Esa-Oke with that of the state polytechnic, Iree, the burden of administering the institutions by the state would be eased and make for better performance.

The Senator stated this on Friday morning while featuring on a radio programme in Osogbo.

According to him, the process would not only relief the government but help its cause in financing LAUTECH that will in-turn curb the incessant industrial actions facing the ivory tower in recent times.

“If I were to be the Governor of this state, I would have scrapped the colleges of education in Ila and Ilesa and merge the college of technology, Esa-Oke with the Polytechnic, Iree. These are institutions we got from the Old Oyo State with a part of LAUTECH.”

“I will then setup a broad Faculty of Education for the Osun State University that will build the set of graduates we crave for in Education. This will enable me garner resources to help support the cause of LAUTECH and make it a more effective institution.”

He said “There are no resources to finance these institutions and that’s why I feel to make the universities more effective, some of these colleges may have to be scrapped.”

On the recent passage of the Petroleum Governance Industry Bill, the Senate Chief Whip explained that the bill which has just been passed since its inception seventeen years ago is to reform the revenue sector of the nation’s economy.
