Akure Based Notorious Indian Hemp Dealer Arrested

An Akure based suspected notorious Indian Hemp dealer, Sunday Gowon has been arrested by a Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the Nigeria Police Force, following a tip off into his criminal activities by the members of the timber contractors association at the forest reserve in Akure.

The suspect was apprehended with an accomplice by FSARS from Lagos after a manhunt into his illegal activities on Wednesday.

The culprit and his gang had severally been alleged of destroying vegetations in the Akure/Ofosu Forest Reserve by planting and cultivating Indian hemp thereby destroying the land.

He was also accused of recruiting young people into the illegal business while felling economic trees to sabotage the effort of the Ondo state government.

A source who confirmed Gowon’s arrest to Journalists in Akure said “The suspect (Gowon) was arrested by the Federal Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) from Lagos after a trap was set for him and his group of boys.

“The culprit is also one of the notorious criminals destroying farmland and vegetations at the Akure/Ofosu Forest Reserve in Ondo state.

“He has been questioned by the police and he is being transferred to Lagos for more investigation into his case” the source told journalists.
