Osun West By-Election: Hoodlums Attack PDP Campaign Train in Gbongan
There was a pandemonium at Gbongan/Odeomu in Ayedaade Local government of Osun State when some unidentified armed men allegedly attacked the campaign train of the Osun People Democratic Party PDP Candidate for the Osun West Senatorial District By-Election, Otunba Ademola Adeleke.
Otunba Adeleke is contesting the July 8, 2017 election for the vacuum created by the death of his brother, Sen Isiaka Adeleke who died on April 23rd.
CityMirrorNews reports that Otunba Adeleke was holding a political meeting with PDP members as part of his campaign strategy in Gbongan when the hoodlums in their large numbers arrived the venue and allegedly attacked the campaign train.
It was also gathered that some Adeleke’s supporters their number yet unknown as at the time of filing this report sustained various degrees of injuries just as vehicles and other properties belonging to the party were destroyed by the hoodlums.
Luck however ran out for the thugs as the people of the town came out in large numbers and over powered them.
Reports say the hoodlums are also yet to be identified.
While giving an account of the incident, the State PDP Party Chairman, Hon. Soji Adagunodo described the incident as unfortunate, saying it was a bad a omen to democracy.
Adagunodo said he had earlier raised an alarm that some suspected political thugs were planning to unleash terror on the campaign train of the PDP candidate.
He, therefore, called on security agents to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
