Akeredolu Sworn In As 6th Ondo Civilian Gov, Stays on Campaign Promises

Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, was on Friday sworn-in as sixth civilian Governor of Ondo state by the state acting Chief Judge, Mrs Temitayo Osoba.

In his inaugural speech, Akeredolu said his government would rebuild the state economy by resuscitating damaged infrastructure, restoring hope and return the state to a prosperous land.

Governor Akeredolu maintained that his administration would ion break down the barriers that had drawn back the progress of the state.

His words: “We will break down the barriers to honest leadership to comprehensive development, to physical growth and social security. These we intend to do through the promotion of transparent leadership, rule of law, extensive consultation, quality and accessible public utilities and social security, all in a sustainable manner”.

Akeredolu who was inaugurated alongside his deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi said there would be job creation through Agriculture, entrepreneurship and industrialisation.

Tagged as Platforms for Change, Akeredolu’s planned programmes are: Massive infrastructural development and maintenance, Provision of functional education and technological growth, Provision of accessible and qualitative health care and social service delivery and rural development and community extension services.

Governor Akeredolu SAN took his first fresh breath of life, through Reverend Ola Akeredolu of Akeredolu family in Owo and Lady Evangelist Grace Akeredolu of Aderoyiju family of Igbotu, Ese-Odo on the 21th July, 1956 in Owo, Ondo state.

He became the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo state between 1997 and 1999. He was also conferred with the prestigious title of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1998.

Dignitaries at the swearing in ceremony were: the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Chief John-Odigie Oyegun, the National Leader of the party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, Minister for Information Lai Muhammed, Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwa, his counterpart from Kano Uman Ganduje, Kogi state governor Yahyah Bello, Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose among others.
