Opinion: Bauchi State Is Merely A Small Hell

To some people, they might say Nigeria was now certified in its one of the best true democratic revolution ever in history. Most villages in Nigeria are now electrified with virtually uninterrupted supply. Water supply systems was increased by construction of more reservoirs of thousands cubic meters channels and distributed throughout the cities. Human development and empowerment programs were commissioned everyday in some states across the country. Workers salaries and pensions were paid on time. More opportunities to urbaniz villages keep opening up everyday.

When it comes to Bauchi state it is a different story entirely. All seems to be moving down drastically everyday.
You hardly can tell at night whether towns really do exist or may be it only appears at day time and seems to dematerialize at night.

Everywhere would seemingly be gloomy with only glints at intervals for motors and bikes that passes by once in a while. The small road side malls that uses generators sometimes back barely operate nowadays because the amount of money in circulation in the state is by far very low making adverse effect on the market system that if the owners use the small amount they get as profit to buy fuel, they would be running the business at risk of loss at the end of the day.

When it comes to job creation and empowerment programmes, the government of the state have only succeeded in turning the life of its youth miserable by shaping them into hunting dogs in the name ‘media team’, empowering them with phones and some little amount for monthly subscription creating enmity and hatred among the youth, all in the name of protecting the interest of their principal through thick and thin.

It truly pains deeply whenever I come across posts on media bills praising and hailing in jubilation that a whole governor, senator or Reps member not even state house member or some sort of political appointee for the construction of a mere bore hole, a tap or painting some classes that barely cost hundreds of thousands.

The annoying part is that even those big worshipped wigs will foolishly be counting that as part of his achievement with pride after wasting years in office.

There are some instances were those wigs shamelessly give out peanuts in the name of empowerment programmes that can hardly sustain a family man good two days meals of three square meals under extreme condition.

There is something we all should be able to understand and have a better insight on it until we are able to, that’s how those politicians would be fooling us around.

We should be able to understand what we are to enjoy as rights/privileges and differentiate it with ‘favour or magnanimity’ in a democratic society like Nigeria.

When a democratically elected leader construct roads, build a school or a hospital for your little towns, it is your right.
When a leader constructs dams and extend the water distribution channels across the town or installs more transformers to aid electricity distribution across the town, it your right to enjoy that.
When your state governor gives you a job, he is not doing you a favour.
When your senator installs solar light on your roads, believe me he is not doing you a favour for that.
When the member representing your constituency in the green chamber bring empowerment projects to your town and you manage to come over it, he isn’t doing a favour for you.

A favour may come from your leader but only if he spares his time or personal hard earned resources to tackle your responsibility.

Something like donating some percentage of his personal earnings to charity, adopting children from orphanage. So basically in Bauchi state if one does a close analysis, you will believe me that our leaders have only succeeded in turning the state into a mere small hell unbearable for its citizens.

Those are all your rights which you should enjoy as a citizen and if your leader can’t be able to offer such after spending years in office then that clears one fact, that he wasn’t ready to take such responsibility on his shoulder.
