Hitches Mar JAMB UTME’s Registration
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
Hitches have marred the ongoing 2017 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in Plateau state.
Various accredited registration centres released by JAMB visited by our correspondent in the state revealed that no activities have taken place as at yesterday afternoon.
Visit by our correspondent to Saint Louis College, one of the accredited centres showed that no prospective candidate has been registered although, many candidates were seen hanging around for the registration.
One of the prospective candidates, Gloria, who spoke with our correspondent stated that they were told to obtain pin from the bank which they would use for the registration.
She said “We were told to obtain pin from the bank and we have gone to the bank but they told us that JAMB has not sent the pin”. She retorted that “we are been frustrated by JAMB”.
Another prospective candidate, Priscilla, who spoke with CityMirrorNews correspondent said that she was tired of the process and that JAMB has wasted the day for her as she was unable to do anything.
She said “I’ve been here since 7am and I have not been able to do anything” she said. “I was told to pay to bank which I went and at the bank, I was told that the pin was not available”. She continued, “I and a colleague even went to JAMB office but no one attended to us. We were locked out. It’s very frustrating”.
A visit by our correspondent to Union Bank, Rwang Pam street branch revealed that JAMB have not sent the pin.
At First Bank, Terminus branch, the pin was not also available and our correspondent was directed to the bank’s Plateau state head office beside Central Bank of Nigeria where it was also confirmed that the pin was not available. The banks were however optimistic that it would be available within the week.
Visiting the state’s JAMB office located at Murtala Muhammed Way, the door was shut to both prospective candidates and visitors.
The 2017 JAMB UTME registration commenced on Monday March 20 while closing date is April 19, 2017. Only about 20, 000 candidates have so far registered throughout the country, according to media reports.
