Osun Bye-election: We Are Fully Prepared, Security Agencies Assure Citizens

As Osun West Senatorial Bye-Election is fast approaching, the security agencies in the state have assured adequate security of lives and property of the citizenry.

The security chiefs in the state said necessary security arrangement would be provided to ensure a hitch free electoral process before, during and after the July 8th bye-election.

It would be recalled that Osun West Senatorial seat became vacant at the National Assembly following the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke who was until his death representing the district.

Speaking on the level of police preparedness, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye said the Command has put in place necessary security apparatus to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

Adeoye said the Command would not relent in its efforts to sustain the wind peaceful atmosphere blowing in the state, saying no stone would be left unturned to guarantee the security in the state.

He said men and officers of the Command have been strategically mobilised against the election, assuring that the Command would continue to champion on it s mandate to the people in the state.

According to him, it is on records that Osun Police Command has been living up to its responsibility as regards security.

“We have been discharging professionally and diligently on our mandate and we are ready to continue comes rain, comes sun.

“As tradition, our Command has already put in place necessary security arrangement against the forthcoming bye election in the Osun West Senatorial District.

“We are prepared. We are ready to sustain the reign of peace in the state and this would not in anyway be affected by whatever circumstance.

“We will ensure a hitch free election in the district as our men and officers would be adequately deplored when the time comes.

Echoing similar assurance, the State Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Philip Oyedele said the Corps has drawn a chart to ensure adequate mobilisation of its men and officers as regards the senatorial bye election.

He said the Corps was fully prepared for the election as its officers and men were fully on ground for the said purposes.

The Commandant whose Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Corps spoke on his behalf, Mr Babawale Afolabi, said the Corps has been strategizing to ensure the success of the election.

“We have drawn a chart to ensure adequate mobilization and deployment of the men and officers of the Corps.

“We are ready and we want our people to be rest assured that the Corps would do the necessity being known for to ensure a success of the election even before, during and after the bye election”, he added.
