The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu and Chairman, Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Kunle Sanni on Thursday, charged Muslim media professionals to use their platforms for the propagation of Islam.
They made the call separately in Ibadan while hosting of executive members of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Oyo State chapter.
Shittu said that since every field has its basis in Islam, Muslim professionals should use their calling to propagate the words of Allah.
He emphasised the need for Muslims to seek required knowledge to serve Allah while alive and imbibe the spirit of reading Islamic books at all times to have better understanding of the religion.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni traced the history of the establishment of Muslim professional organisations to the need for adherents of Islam to be united in fighting common goals.
He admonished members of MMPN to work harder to build a credible system that would enable the public to see the beauty of Islam.
Earlier, Chairman MMPN, Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi said the visit was aimed at seeking advice and support to make the new administration a successful one.
Fasasi said apart from the traditional monthly meetings, the new administration had introduced fortnight lecture and empowerment programme as well as Islamic cooperative scheme.
