Revealed: The Fact Behind Oyinlola’s Rumoured Defection to PDP

For about six days, there was a rife rumour that former governor of Osun State; Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The rumour dominated social media space, generating arguments and tension in the APC camp ahead of the Osun west senatorial by-election slated for July 8.

CityMirrorNews gathered that Oyinlola has not decamped and he was not contemplating on doing such as at the time of filing this report.

The medium has, however, uncovered the circumstances surrounding the generation of the rumour.

It was gathered that Oyinlola supported Otunba Demola Adeleke to get the ticket of the APC for the Osun West senatorial by-election.

The medium learnt that Dr Deji Adeleke, an elder brother to Demola had consulted Oyinlola on the senatorial ambition of his brother and the possibility of him aspiring under the PDP from beginning.

Oyinlola reportedly told Deji that there was no need for Demola to decamp to the PDP, vowing to ensure that the he get the ticket of the APC for him with the help of some national leaders of the party.

CityMirrorNews gathered that Oyinlola made serious move to fulfill his promise as he ensured that Demola scaled through screening.

However, Oyinlola was said to be unhappy with the turn of event on the disqualification and eventual clearance of Senator Mudasiru Hussain who was contesting the ticket of the party with Demola.

It was gathered that Oyinlola was informed about Demola’s defection to the PDP when it was clear that he would not get the ticket of the party.

Oyinlola’s disposition to Demola’s ambition and his defection to the PDP was misconstrued by the people who carried the rumour that the former governor had decamped to PDP.

Also, some of Oyinlola’s political followers in the APC are supporting Demola who is contesting the by-election under the PDP.
