Court Sentences 2 Labourers To 6 Imprisonment Each For Stealing Cell Phone
A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced two Labourers, Ibrahim Danladi and Waziri Ibrahim, to six months imprisonment each for stealing a cell phone.
Danladi and Ibrahim, residents of Jabi Park, Abuja, were convicted on a two-count charge of joint act and theft, punishable under Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, said since the defendants had pleaded guilty to the charges, the court had no option than to sentence them accordingly.
Sadiq, therefore, sentenced the duo to six months imprisonment each with an option to pay N6, 000 fine each.
He admonished the convicts to desist from committing crime in future.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Avhioboh Florence, had informed the court that on Sept. 6, one Buniruolon Bayo of Jabi Park, Abuja, reported the case at Utako Police Station.
According to Avhioboh, the convicts went with criminal intention to the front of Jabi Park, where the complainant sells her goods and stole her Nokia cell phone valued at N5, 000.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the convicts confessed to committing the crimes.
