Aregbesola Unveils ‘Kaadi Omoluabi’ Identification Initiative

Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will on Tuesday 24th October 2017 unveil ‘Kaadi Omoluabi’ residents’ registration initiative card for pupils in schools across the state as well as artisans including market men and women.

The flag off of the card will be done simultaneously with the commissioning of the new state-of-art modern school built by the current administration being part of its innovations to education sector in the state.

‘Kaadi Omoluabi’ residents’ registration identification initiative which had commenced since 2012; when becoming operational will assist the government to establish a reliable and updateable database of all residents of the state including pupils in all schools as well as artisans for efficient planning and allocation of resources to meet the needs of the citizenry.

The initiative will also enable the government’s e-government strategy and implementation in ensuring government service delivery and facilitate transactions for economic growth of the state.

Speaking on the proposed ‘Kaadi Omoluabi’ initiative, the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives, Mr. Ismail Jayeoba Alagbada noted that the society is changing and becoming more mobile which necessitated the growing need for the government to integrate the residents of the state into its e-government initiatives to enable the services provided by government to be fully utilized and provide an accurate picture for government policy and planning.

He said that the card will also ease loan facilities to artisans as well as market men and women because it will serve as guarantor to people seeking to obtain loan facilities from banks in the state.

According to him, “since Kaadi Omoluabi initiative is a biometric, residents of the state seeking loan facility from banks will no longer be compulsorily required to use civil servants as guarantors for the loan which many people considered difficult.

Jayeoba Alagbada also said that the card will also serve as means of re-introducing discipline back to schools in the state stressing that any student without the card will not be allowed in school and any erring pupils could easily be identified through the card.

He said further that any contractors engaged by the state government will have access to all artisans and others for gainful employment adding that contractual jobs or activities would be done through the issuance of the card.

The Commissioner however disclosed that the card will be issued to students across the state free of charge while adults are to pay token for it.

Alagbada therefore called on the residents of the avail themselves for the benefits inherent in the card and called for the continue support of the government in its bid to move the state’s economy forward.
