Police Arrest NNPC Security Guard Over Killing In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a security guard of the NNPC Petrol station located at Shagari Village junction along Owo expressway in Akure, the state capital over alleged killing.
The security guard, Jonah Sunday who is currently at the police custody allegedly committed the crime last Wednesday evening by shooting a bread seller, identified as Tunji Ojomo before he was arrested immediately by the men of the command.
The police spokesman in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Akure said the command had begun investigation on the incident.
His words, “The information reached us at about 9.30pm on Wednesday that the suspect killed somebody bedside the filling station.
“We were made to know that the suspect was shooting into the air, we don’t know the reason for that, may be he was suspecting something, but unfortunately as he was shooting the bullets hit one of the people selling bread beside the filling station”.
He maintained that the victim was quickly rushed to the nearby hospital where he gave up ghost, noting that it was the family of the victim that reported the case at the police station.
“It is a pure murder case and we have commenced investigation on the matter, “Joseph stated.
Joseph also disclosed that the command at the weekend has arrested four sea pirates in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
He however did not reveal the identity of the four suspects for security reasons but said some dangerous weapons were recovered from them during the arrest which includes gun and live cartridges.
