Court Remands Man For Raping 13 Year Old Girl To Death In Osun

A 30-year-oldman, Ahmed Matunma wojuekun, was on Friday remanded in an Ile-Ife prison custody by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court , over alleged rape.

Wojuekun is facing a two- count charge bothering on rape and murder .

The Magistrate, Mrs Habibatu Bashiru, ordered the defendant be kept in prison custody due to the magnitude of the offense committed.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Elisha, had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Nov. 17 at about 8:00 a.m at Ifetedo area,Mofoworade village, Osogbo.

Elisha said the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of one Dupe Lawrence , who he raped to death.

He said the situation led to an uproar within the vicinity before the police were called upon and he was brought to the court.

The prosecutor said the offense contravened sections 221(1), 319(1) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun, 2003.

The plea of the defendant was not taken and the Magistrate adjourned the case till Jan. 22 , 2018 for mentioned.
