The National Executive Council of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS) has commended Osun state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for building indelible legacies in the education sector.

ANCOPPS also described the education policy of the state as superb, saying the spate at which Aregbesola is building state-of-the-art schools across the state remains unbeatable if compared to other states in Nigeria.

The National president of ANCOPPS, Principal Izuagie Anslem gave the commendation in a communique issued at the end of the council’s meeting in Osogbo, the state capital.

Describing Aregbesola as a community developer whose impacts had been greatly felt in every nook and cranny of the state, Izuagie said the administration of Governor Aregbesola had laid quality standard in education sector.

Anslem attributed the hallmarks of Aregbesola’s achievements to priority given to education which according to him remains the bedrock of development.

He said ANCOPPS was aware of all the state’s interventions not only in education sectors but in all aspects of the economy as some of the state socio-economic policies had been unanimously duplicated by some states and Federal Government.

Acknowledging the state government in its efforts towards building economic prosperity, ANCOPPS National President noted that Osun has awaken Nigerian governments through its education policies painstakingly designed to enhance and promote functional, quality and qualitative education of all strata.

“With what we have heard and seen, it is evident that the Osun state government led by Governor Rauf Aregbesola has made history in the education sector.

“Unprecedentedly, the spate in which Aregbesola is building schools in every community of the state remains unbeatable if compared to other states.

“The state has proven what education stands for. It has shown the world that education is the only sustainable legacy that can never be measured.

“The bold steps taken by the state in building state-of-the-art schools across the state is not only commendable but outstanding because it depicts the fact that education remains the bedrock for socio-economic development of any society.

“This initiative has without doubt increased on the pace of enrolment to public schools just as it has also bridged the gaps between the public and private foundation education as necessary facilities are made available to enhance public education in strong competition to its private counterparts.

“To us, this initiative has re-energised teachers just as it has also motivated teaching and learning processes as enabling environment had been created for the said purpose.

“Hence, kudos would be forever given to Osun government for building ultra-modern schools which cut across the three categories of elementary, middle and high school in the state”, Anslem asserted.

Anslem, who was of the opinion that education has the capacity to serve the purpose of providing short and long term remedies for economic recession, maintained that, education should be given priority by the tiers of governments in Nigeria.

He charged governments to develop a cost-sharing approach where stakeholders in education will help in providing adequate funding for the sector, saying the step would go a long way in helping the millennium principal to be equipped through training and re-training in meeting current global educational challenges in schools.

Anslem however agitated for adequate security in schools, noting that governments must throw weights behind mitigating measures against unwarranted attacks of pupils and students of public schools.
