Australia High Commission Builds Orphanage Home In Edo

The Australia High Commission says it has built an Orphanage home in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo.

Mr Paul Lehmann, the Australia High Commissioner in Nigeria, said this during a visit to Oba of Benin on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the orphanage comprised of medical outfit, seminary and school at Egoro-Amede.

Lehmann told Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, that the project would be replicated in other local government areas of the state.

According to him, the purpose of the project is to reduce the hardship of orphans in Edo.

He explained that he was in the palace to intimate the Oba of the orphanage project in the state as well as seek his royal blessings.

Lehmann said that his country was ready to partner with the Edo government and the Oba’s palace in art and culture.

Responding, Oba Ewuare II said he was ready to partner with the Australia government in the area of socio economic, cultural and technological development of the state.

Omo N’Oba expressed delight over the visit of the Australia high commission to the palace, stressing that socio, cultural, economic and technological promotion are key to the well-being of the citizens of any nation.

He assured the commissioner of his support and advised him to accomplish his mission in Nigeria.

The traditional ruler also promised to help Australia in the area of Benin arts.
