For the third time in a space of one week, suspended chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Hon Isaac Kekemeke failed to appear before the disciplinary committee set up by the State Executive Committee of the party to investigate allegations of negligence and anti party activities leveled against him.

Kekemeke who has been suspended from the party had been invited thrice to appear before the disciplinary committee but failed to honour the invitation in all the three occasions.

The disciplinary committee had extended its sitting till yesterday to give Kekemeke another opportunity to appear before it, having failed to honour its previous invitations, but he shunned the committee.

Other leaders of the party including the state acting chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin, Director General, Rotimi Akeredolu Campaign Organization, Hon Victor Olabimtan, the Women Leader, Mrs Omolara Atiba, state secretary, Mr Raman Rotimi, state financial secretary Mr Ishola Moshood and the state auditor, Mr Samuel Bamidele had appeared
before the committee.

Kekemeke, however, hinged his decision to shun the committee on the ground that he was not duly invited to appear before it.

But the Chairman of the disciplinary committee, Prince Abayomi Adesanya said the former chairman lied as he was duly invited to the committee’s sitting through letters which were delivered to him.

Adesanya who alleged that Kekemeke beat two administrative staff of the party who delivered letters of invitation to him, added that  courier services was also employed to deliver the letters of invitation to the embattled former chairman.

However, he said, Kekemeke failed to acknowledge all the letters on invitation sent to him, including the ones delivered to him by the courier agency.

He hinted that the suspended chairman risks being expelled from the party, as the committee will not avail him any further opportunity to appear before it.

“We have maximized all the opportunities and there is no more opportunity for him to appear before the committee. He failed to show up on three occasions. Is he bigger than the party? It is a known axiom in politics that the party is supreme,” he stated.

Adesanya who is also the state publicity secretary of the party said the committee has exhausted the ultimatum given to it by the State Executive Committee of the party, adding that the recommendations of the committee will be presented to the party today (Wednesday) for approval.

On what may be the consequence of Kekemeke’s action, Adesanya said “he risks being expelled from the party. But, the leadership of the party will determine his fate after considering our report.”

He added that the committee will make its recommendations based on the evidences before it and the submissions of members who appeared before it during its public hearing.
