International Youths Day: Lawmaker Urges Youths To Engage In Nation Building
A member of Osun House, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged Nigerian youths to engage in activities that would promote peace, progress and unity of the country.
Oyintiloye while speaking with newsmen on the 2017 International Youth Day acknowledged Youths as vital link to growth and crucial to the nation’s development.
The lawmaker who noted that the challenges confronting the nation only beckons for solution, stressing that the unity of the country should not be negotiated.
He called on the Youths to to avoid utterances, actions and activities capable of building tension and lead the country to crisis.
Oyintiloye (APC-Obokun Constituency) urged the youths that rather than wasting their vigour on issues capable of causing disunity, they should channel their energy towards peace and nation building.
The lawmaker pointed that political space has been re-enginnered to accomodate active participation of youths, urging them to take advantage of this opportunity and generate out of the box idea for positive growth.
He described the latest constitution ammendment especially the aspect that lower the entry age of Nigerians to elective political office as a step in the right direction
He said agitations by some group of youths on the secession of some states from Nigeria was unnecessary, adding that youths should work towards one united Nigerian.
Oyintiloye who is the House Committee on Information and Strategy, however, urged government at all levels to tackle youth unemployment in the country.
The lawmaker who noted that the rate of youths unemployment in the country was alarming, said government must make job creation its priority
