Ile-Ife Crisis: How Omoworare, Oladipo, Omisore Secured the Release of 15 Suspects

Fifteen of 21 suspects arrested and detained in Abuja by the police in connection with the March 8 deadly clash between Hausa and Yoruba people in Ile-Ife have been released.
The freed suspects are: Peter Omisore, Akanbi Adeyinka, Alhaji Zakariyu Abdulyakeen, Akinyombo Seye, Adelekan Kehinde, Adefisan Isaac.
Others are: Elufisan Akintoye, Omisanmi Isaac, Adejobe Monday, Olanrewaju Adebayo, Obimakin Samuel, Bamidele Elufisan, Clement Kehinde, Ayoola Abimbola and Bello Wahab.
The 15 suspects were released following the intervention of Senator Babajide Omoworare, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof Wale Oladipo, Senator Iyiola Omisore and some Yoruba Socio-cultural groups.
CityMirrorNews gathered that the remaining detained six suspects could not be released by the police for their alleged serious involvement in the crisis.
There had been agitations by Yoruba groups for the release of the suspects. The Yoruba groups accused the police of ethnical bias on the case as it was arresting only Yoruba people in Ile-Ife on the crisis.
